Wipe down the bench with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Lay out the lyophilized vial, your bacteriostatic water (BAC), an unopened sterile syringe, and an alcohol swab. Wash hands and put on gloves.
Reconstitution Assisting
A clear, step-by-step laboratory reference for safely reconstituting a lyophilized peptide vial with bacteriostatic water. For research and laboratory handling only.
Wipe down the bench with 70% isopropyl alcohol. Lay out the lyophilized vial, your bacteriostatic water (BAC), an unopened sterile syringe, and an alcohol swab. Wash hands and put on gloves.
Allow the lyophilized vial to sit at room temperature for 5–10 minutes before opening. Cold glass increases the chance of moisture condensation and uneven solubilization.
Wipe the rubber stopper of both the BAC water vial and the lyophilized peptide vial with a fresh alcohol swab. Allow the alcohol to fully air-dry before piercing.
Using a sterile syringe, draw the chosen volume of BAC water (commonly 1 mL, 2 mL, or 3 mL — depending on the dosing concentration the lab protocol calls for).
Tilt the peptide vial at a slight angle and inject the BAC water slowly against the inside glass wall — never directly onto the powder. This protects the peptide from shear stress and foaming.
Gently swirl the vial in a circular motion until the powder fully dissolves. The solution should be clear and colorless. Shaking can denature the peptide and create persistent foam.
Store reconstituted vials at 2–8°C, protected from light. Most reconstituted research peptides are stable for 14–30 days refrigerated; refer to the specific peptide's stability data.
